I make furniture, including tansu, chests, tables and chairs. I try to integrate design elements such as function, proportion, balance and simplicity. I work mostly in cherry, mahogany and walnut. I apply a simple, durable finish and use no color.
As much as possible, I use wood that is certified as coming from sustainably harvested forests. During many years of living in Japan, I developed an appreciation for Japanese woodworking with its emphasis on wood selection, joinery and hand work.
